Highlights: • Sales activity held steady from April to May, but posted the first year-over-year gain in over a year due to falling demand in May 2010. • Year-to-date sales are in line with the ten-year average

National resale housing market further stabilizes

OTTAWA – October 15th, 2010 – National resale housing activity edged higher for a second consecutive month in September 2010, according to statistics released by The Canadian Real Estate Association (CREA). Combined with a falling supply of homes on the market, the number of months of inventory also declined for the second consecutive month.

DURHAM REGION – October 6, 2010 – The Durham Region Association of REALTORS® reported 707 sales through the Multiple Listing Service® (MLS®) in September 2010. Although 14% less than the September 2009 sales total of 825, these totals still result in 2010’s first three quarters of sales being 5.5% higher than the same period in 2009

OTTAWA (August 16, 2010) – The Canadian Real Estate Association (CREA) says national home sales activity continued to trend down in July 2010. The decline was almost entirely the result of fewer sales in British Columbia and Ontario.

(OTTAWA – May 17, 2010) Home sales activity in Canada came up short of the record for the month of April and new listings continued to climb, according to statistics released by The Canadian Real Estate Association (CREA). Residential sales activity via the Multiple Listing Service® (MLS®) Systems of Canadian real estate Boards numbered 52,042 units in April 2010. This is less than one per cent short of the record for national sales activity during the month of April, which was set in 2007

APRIL HOUSING MARKET CONTINUES TO BE STRONG DURHAM REGION April 20, 2010 – The Durham Region Association of REALTORS® (DRAR) reported 503 sales in the first half of April 2010, an increase of 33% from the 378 sales reported mid-month in April ’09. Year-to-date sales are up a whopping 53% to 2,912 compared to 1,903 sales during the same term in 2009. “The average selling price for single family homes has also experienced a sharp increase over the prior year” Dierdre Mullen, President of the Durham Region Association of REALTORS noted.

Resale housing forecast extended to 2011

OTTAWA – February 8, 2010 – The Canadian Real Estate Association has revised its forecast for home sales via the MLS® Systems of Canadian real estate boards in 2010, and extended the forecast to 2011. With Canadian economic growth rebounding from the recession, the unusually severe decline in sales activity in early 2009 is not expected to recur in 2010. Annual activity in 2010 is forecast to be well above the previous year’s level as a result.
