DURHAM REGION December 3, 2010 – The Durham Region Association of REALTORS® (DRAR) reported 661 sales in November, a 4% decrease from the previous month of October and 5% less than November 2009. Although the number of available listings were not as high as earlier in the year, there were still 1,748 homes listed on the Multiple Listing Service® (MLS®) system in November, close to 10% higher compared to both November 2009 and year-over-year totals to date. “This has been an exceptional year within the resale housing market and 2010 is lining up to be a record year” explains Dierdre Mullen, President of the Durham Region Association of REALTORS®.

DURHAM REGION November 5, 2010 – The Durham Region Association of REALTORS® (DRAR) reported 688 sales in October 2010, a decline of 20% against the 860 sales that were reported in October of 2009.

Although 14% less than the September 2009 sales total of 825, these totals still result in 2010’s first three quarters of sales being 5.5% higher than the same period in 2009

September Sales in the Durham Housing Market Remain Steady

DURHAM REGION – July 6, 2010 – The Durham Region Association of REALTORS® reported 920 sales through the Multiple Listing Service® (MLS®) during the month of June, a decrease of 17.5% from the record 1,115 sales reported in June 2009.   “At the mid-point of 2010, sales are still up 23% over the first six months of 2009, but sales numbers are beginning to trend downwards as the market settles from its earlier 2010 peaks, influenced by the prospect of higher mortgage rates, the HST and the usual summer slow down.” commented Dierdre Mullen, President of the Durham Region Association of REALTOR®. With 2,461 active resale home listings in June, the mid-year 2010 total of 10,163 listings is also up 18% annually, while the average June selling price of $304,278 came in 8% higher than the average for the same period in 2009.

Anticipated Summer Slow Down of Resale Housing Market

HST Affects the Affordability of Home Ownership

DURHAM REGION – June 4, 2010 – The Durham Region Association of REALTORS® reported 1,027 sales through the Multiple Listing Service® (MLS®) during the month of May which is at par with last year’s 1,026 sales for the same month, but reflects a decrease from the high sales totals seen in both March and April of this year. Meanwhile, active listings remain on the rise with May offering up 2,600 available resale home listings, 1% higher than May of 2009 and the highest amount seen so far this year. “We can now see the forecasted trend of increased available listings coinciding with a decrease in the substantial sales of the prior few months.

May Sales Remain High for Durham Resale Housing Market

DURHAM REGION May 19, 2010 – The Durham Region Association of REALTORS® (DRAR) reported 525 sales in the first half of May 2010, an increase of 13% from the 464 sales reported mid-month in May ’09. Durham REALTORS Lobby Their Issues on Parliament hill

DURHAM REGION – May 7, 2010 – Durham Region Association of REALTORS® reported a record 1,185 sales of single family homes in Durham Region during the month of April through the Multiple Listing Service® (MLS®), representing a 41 percent increase compared to April 2009. Comparably, the number of available listings also continued to rise, offering a total of 2,426 resale homes for sale during April, 14 percent more than March 2010. “The trend across all of the GTA, including Durham, is that listings continue to increase as sellers recognize the strong sales and price growth within the housing market” explained Dierdre Mullen, President of the Durham Region Association of REALTORS®.

Record Sales in April for Durham Housing Market

APRIL HOUSING MARKET CONTINUES TO BE STRONG DURHAM REGION April 20, 2010 – The Durham Region Association of REALTORS® (DRAR) reported 503 sales in the first half of April 2010, an increase of 33% from the 378 sales reported mid-month in April ’09. Year-to-date sales are up a whopping 53% to 2,912 compared to 1,903 sales during the same term in 2009. “The average selling price for single family homes has also experienced a sharp increase over the prior year” Dierdre Mullen, President of the Durham Region Association of REALTORS noted.
