DURHAM REAL ESTATE SALES STILL STRONG DURHAM REGION NOVEMBER 19, 2009 – The Durham Region Association of REALTORS® (DRAR) reported 344 sales in the first half of November ‘09, an increase of 50% from the 230 sales reported mid-month in November ‘08. “The average selling price continued to show growth with an increase of 5% ($284,085) from the $270,790 recorded at the same time last year,” said Debbie Dawson, 2009 DRAR President.  Strong Growth Continues in October DURHAM REGION November 4, 2009 – Sales of single family homes in Durham Region rose to 860 in October from 825 in September and also represents a 49% increase over 576 sales for the same month last year reported Debbie Dawson, President of the Durham Region Association of REALTORS®. Average prices crept up to $289,003 from $282,308 in September and reflect a 9% jump from $264,988 in October, 2008

Canada National consumer confidence continued to improve for the third consecutive quarter in the third quarter of 2009, according to the Conference Board of Canada’s index of consumer confidence. Consumer sentiment is up from the end of 2008, and now stands above pre-recession levels

Consumer Confidence continues to improve

I know the headline sounds ridiculous but it’s true. Mike and I have now sold more homes this year than we did in all of last year. What makes this a bit of a surprise is that the first two months of 2009 were quieter than I have experienced in twenty years of real estate sales.  Since March we have been very busy assisting “first time” buyers, “move up” buyers and sellers and clients relocating in or out of the area.
